Dr. Alexa Romano DVM

I grew up in Marlboro, New Jersey in central Jersey. We always had a dog in our household growing up, and I always knew I wanted to be a vet. I learned to walk by leaning on my Golden Retriever, Jolie.
I attended undergrad at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) where I studied Animal Science and played soccer.
I then went on to veterinary school at St. George’s University, in Grenada. It was definitely a fun experience to go to school on an island, and we took frequent study breaks to the beach. Island tours and island hopping were a normal occurrence, and we attended carnival yearly, which was the islands biggest celebration. I also got to play soccer with the national team down there.
For clinical year, I attended Louisiana State University. I was lucky enough to be there the year they won the national championship, and went to my first Mardi Gras. I also adopted my fur baby, Ellie, my first week of school there. I accidentally found her in the shelter during one of my rotations.
In my spare time I love going to the beach, jet skiing, playing soccer, watching football (NFL or NCAA.. I can talk about it all day), and traveling. My goal is to go to every Sandals resort in the Caribbean.
I’m excited about being a part of HousePaws!
