Session dates:
Week 1: Sunday, March 22, 2020— 1:30pm – 3:30pm* special 2 hour class with Dr. Matt ! $35/student
Dr Matt to teach our Wet Lab – During this special extended-time class, Dr. Matt will discuss life as a vet with the students before he works with them in our real hospital setting. Students will have the opportunity to use the actual equipment to work on stuffed animal patients!
Week 2: Sunday, March 29, 2020 1:30pm – 2:30 pm $20/student
Wellness Exams – Just like for humans, wellness exams and preventative care are a huge part of keeping pets healthy. Students will learn the basics of a veterinary wellness exam, and then perform them on our Vets in Training animals.
Week 3: Sunday, April 5, 2020— 1:30pm – 2:30 pm $20/student
Pet CPR -Students will have the chance to learn how to save a pet’s life during this animal CPR lesson and lab. Students will practice their technique on our VIT model dog! Techniques such as evaluating a pet’s capillary refill time, heart rate and respiratory rate will also be explored.
Week 4: Sunday April 19, 2020— 1:30pm – 2:30pm $20/student
First Aid – How should you respond in an emergency? Students will learn the ABCs of emergency care for pets.
Week 5: Sunday April 26, 2020— 1:30pm – 2:30pm $20/student
Prehistoric vs. Modern Animals – Are there still prehistoric animals alive today? Yes! Many animals that are alive today are descendants of prehistoric animals that roamed the earth millions of years ago! Students will learn about the prehistoric ancestors and their descendants and even make their own fossils!
