
Welcome to the Fall Session II 2019
Students will spend five weeks exploring many aspects of veterinary medicine in a hands-on, interactive way. All lessons will be taught at an age-appropriate level. Students should prepare for many special visitors AND unique activities!
This session will run from the week of October 28st to week of November 25th and is perfect for all students, Pre-K through 12th grade, who love animals, science and learning.
**Please note: No class on HALLOWEEN – make-up will be on 12/5, no class on THANKSGIVING – make-up will be on 12/12, class on BLACK FRIDAY – make-up class will be on 12/13 )**

Week 1: Pocket Pets Examination
“Pocket Pets” are the name affectionately given to the small, furry critters that are common house pets. Examinations of pocket pets is very different based on the species. Students will put on their lab coat and learn exam skills for this unique group of animals
Week 2: Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go: Babies
Who can resist animal babies? This class will teach students about babies within the 5 most well-known animal classes of vertebrates including mammals, amphibians, avian, reptiles, and fish.
Week 2: Residents, Interns, and Homeschool: Reproduction
Reproduction is an essential biological process that both plants and animals need for survival. This will be taught at an age appropriate level and will involve dissection.
Week 3: Avian Medicine
This course aims to develop student’s interest and knowledge of medicine and surgery of birds, both wild and captive.
Week 4: Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go: Basics for all Living Things
All living things require certain basic needs for survival and more importantly, good health. Students will learn and discuss these basics and design healthy habitats for different species using these guidelines.
Week 4: Residents, Interns, and Homeschool : Virtual Anatomy and No Bones About It
Students will explore internal organs using the latest in virtual reality technology and learn about the skeletal system through hands-on experience.
Week 5: Pre-Vet Techs, Little Vet Techs, Ready Vet Go: Ticks, Tweezer, & Prickly Things
As veterinarians, we remove all kinds of things from patients. Veterinarians must learn to remove ticks, bot flies, and even prickly plants from their patients’ fur and skin. VIT students will learn to use their removal skills on simulated patients during this super fun and interactive lab class!
Week 5: Residents, Interns, and Homeschool: Medical Mania Skills Lab
Join us for this hands-on skills lab where we practice everyday procedures that veterinarians perform.

HousePaws Vets in Training Registration Information
All Fall Session II classes listed are scheduled to take place at the HousePaws Vets in Training Education Center located at 833 Centerton Road, in Mount Laurel, NJ. Classes will begin the week of October 21 and will run on the same day for 5 weeks straight for all age groups. Please note: There will be no classes on Halloween.
- We will give you advance notice if we have to cancel any classes for any reason.
- Sibling discounts are available: 5% off for second child and 10% off for third.
- Contact an administrator if you would like to purchase any classes short of a 5-week session.
- Contact an administrator if you would like a time slot that is not on the set schedule.
Parents are always welcome to stay and watch during all of the sessions as long as the learning environment is not disrupted.
For Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes, we request that parents assist with the learning environment.

True to the mobile philosophy, The HousePaws Vets in Training Program is also able to travel to off-site locations for groups of 10 or more! Groups may select any class session they would like to travel to them. Depending on the distance and location, fees will vary.
